BURNT OUT 2023

The photograph is a medium that captures a moment in time,
allowing us to see the repetition of life and patterns that may otherwise go unnoticed. In this way, it becomes a tool for understanding change and the passage of time. Through the lens of a camera, we can witness the record of maintenance and disorder, which makes the fragility of life and buildings apparent. This fragility serves as a clear structure to manage and a reminder of the movement through ages.

Buildings, in particular, are spaces that are constantly in flux, with the human body occupying them, experiencing change, damage, and even a change in occupancy. They are a form of human consumption, and when they are used, they need to be maintained and preserved or changed with the movement of time.

Crossing Borders 2-5 Nov 2023 Open 11am-5pm PV: 1 Nov, 6-8 pm

‘ The exhibition space is located beside the River Thames, opposite MI6, with Tate Britain to the east and Westminsterwithin walking distance to the west. The second floor of a Grade 2 listed building will be infiltrated with conceptual art from 1 till 5 November 2023. The building, which was, for years the office of the United Nations and both the La- bour and Conservative party, still appears as a gatekeeper and mystery space where secret governmental decisions were made. The exhibition will present a site-embedded political space - that formulates a critique of institution- al power structures, without forgetting the complex hu- man beings interwoven in it all. The group show will pres- ent varying artistic positions dismantling and questioning the role of borders, security and economic policies, the power of language and class systems, the consequenc- es of societal norms and man-made conditions - starting from the history and political relevance of the space itself.’
