Relic

The idea behind the installation was in response to my travel to Australia. With the knowledge that the sun / atmosphere is different from the rest of the world, as there is a whole in the ozone layer. When exploring the city, I started to see that their photographs advertisements and object where sun damaged. The large print was found in the forest in blue mountains, it’s an image of a lush forest with a human experiencing nature. On the edges of the print, you can notice the true colour that was covered by the frame protecting it from the sun.  The framed photograph is representing the need for preserving reality and nature that is fading away fast. The last and the most important component of the installation is the light and radio. When the viewer activates the light by spinning the handle, it illuminates the figure and connects to the radio. This element is commenting on the energy shortage in the world and how galleries are struggling to keep the lights on.

The work is interactive - the light & radio is activated by rotating the handle.
